Renowned Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
Stateside performer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles this Monday following treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, according to reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a message.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, such as:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Beyond the Screen
Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
