Lawmakers Release Most Recent Batch of Epstein Photographs as Justice Department Time Limit Nears

The House investigative committee has released a set of approximately 70 photographs from the estate of former adjudicated sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.

This represents the third publication from a cache of over 95,000 images the panel has obtained from Epstein's holdings. It contains pictures of quotes from the book Lolita inscribed across a female's body, and redacted photos of women's overseas passports.

This action comes mere hours before the December 19th due date for the Justice Department to make public all documents associated with its probe into Epstein.

"These latest photographs bring up further queries about exactly what the Justice Department has in its custody," said the ranking member of the panel, Robert Garcia.

Several of the photographs made public on Thursday depict Epstein speaking with academic and activist Noam Chomsky inside a private plane; Bill Gates seen next to a individual whose face is obscured; Steve Bannon sitting at a workstation facing Epstein, and ex- Alphabet president Sergey Brin at a dinner gathering.

These are the most recent high-net-worth, prominent men to be seen in Epstein property images released by the committee - earlier published images also include US President Donald Trump and former president Bill Clinton, as well as film director Woody Allen, former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, counsel Alan Dershowitz, Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor, and other figures.

Being pictured in the photographs is is not considered indication of any illegal activity, and several of the featured figures have stated they were in no way implicated in Epstein's criminal activity.

In a announcement issued alongside the photograph release, Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee stated the Epstein property holders did not supply context or dates for the pictures.

"Photos were selected to provide the general populace with openness into a representative sample of the photos acquired from the estate, and to provide understanding into Epstein's circle and his profoundly troubling actions," the announcement reads.

The publication also features multiple photographs of quotes from the Vladimir Nabokov literary work Lolita penned in ink across several locations of a woman's body, such as her upper body, lower extremity, hip, and spine. Lolita recounts the story of a adolescent who was groomed by a middle-aged literature professor.

A particular quote from the novel inscribed across a female's chest says, "Lolita: the end of the tongue traveling of three steps down the mouth to tap, at three, on the teeth".

Additionally, there are a series of photographs of female passports and ID papers from nations globally, including Lithuania, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.

The majority of the data on the documents, including names and DOBs, is redacted but the panel stated in a press release that the travel documents belong to "women whom Jeffrey Epstein and his associates were involved with".

Another photo features Epstein sitting at a desk in close proximity flanked by three female figures whose faces have been obscured - a first has her palm on Epstein's chest under his garment, and another is crouching to view a close-by laptop. Epstein seems to be helping the final person attach a piece of jewelry.

Another image disclosed is a image of text messages from an unidentified individual who says they have been sent "some girls" and are demanding "$one thousand dollars for each individual".

Photograph Release Occurs Before DOJ Due Date

The committee has thousands of photographs in its possession from the Epstein property, which are "both graphic and mundane," its statement on recently noted.

The oversight panel first subpoenaed the property of Epstein, who was found dead in a New York prison in 2019 while pending legal proceedings on accusations of human trafficking, in August.

The images and documents the Epstein property submitted to the body are distinct from what is largely called "Epstein-related records". Those files are papers in the justice department's custody connected to its separate inquiry into Epstein.

Under the Transparency Act, which President Trump signed into law last month, the DOJ has a deadline of 19 December to release its records. The full nature of what's contained in the DOJ's files is not publicly known, and it's expected that much of the material will be significantly obscured, similar to Congressional releases
