Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match winning run came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, but can the English top division leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, fans and a variety of guests.
In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for several years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this game will be fairly close, however. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.
West Ham's sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or the home side responding?
I will choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.
My son told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.
They have have lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.
But I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's home record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
