Followers Demand Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who leaped a barricade and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the Australian man shoving aside camera operators and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was set to attend court on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features videos of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more response on Instagram.
A number of fans also questioned guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual interpretation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two very different characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and received ten award recognitions, earning a pair for best costume and set decoration.
