China Condemns Notorious Burmese Fraud Syndicate Members to Capital Punishment
One China's judicial body has sentenced several top figures of an infamous Burmese organized crime group to death as Beijing continues its crackdown on fraudulent operations in the region.
Altogether, twenty-one Bai family figures and partners were convicted of fraud, homicide, injury and additional crimes, stated a official report published on the judicial portal.
This clan is among a few of mafias that rose to power in the 2000s and transformed the underdeveloped backwater town of the town into a profitable hub of casinos and nightlife areas.
Recently they pivoted to fraudulent schemes in which many of trafficked individuals, many of them Chinese, are caught, abused and compelled to scam victims in criminal activities valued at huge sums.

Mafia boss the patriarch and his heir the younger Bai were among the group of figures given to death by the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court. Yang Liqiang, A third figure and Chen Guangyi were the other three convicted.

Context of the Groups
These groups became dominant in the 2000s with the support of Min Aung Hlaing - who currently heads Myanmar's junta. He had wanted to bolster partners in the town after removing its earlier warlord.
